• Pre-Dawn Start : The adventure begins before sunrise, with a pickup directly from your lodge. Guests staying at Sopa Lodge can expect an 80-minute scenic drive, while other lodges are typically a 45-minute ride from the launch site. These early hours allow you to experience the tranquility of the Serengeti in the dawn light, a magical prelude to your upcoming flight.
• Dawn Takeoff and Scenic Flight : As the first rays of sunlight spill across the plains, you’ll gently ascend in a colorful hot-air balloon. Rising to an impressive 1,000 feet, this initial altitude offers sweeping panoramic views of the Serengeti, an unforgettable sight where plains, rivers, and the distant horizon converge. The skilled pilots will then descend for a more intimate view at tree-top or even grass-top level, where you can witness the Serengeti’s wildlife up close—herds grazing, elephants moving in groups, and predators watching from hidden spots.
• Landing Celebration : Upon landing, the ground support team welcomes you with a traditional champagne toast, a mark of both achievement and celebration. This celebratory drink is a nod to the early days of ballooning and the explorers who pioneered the skies.
• Bush Breakfast Under the Trees : The experience culminates with a gourmet breakfast set beneath an umbrella tree near the landing site. • Return to Your Lodge : After breakfast, around 9:30 a.m., guests return to their lodge, where the rest of the day’s safari itinerary awaits. This early finish makes it easy for groups, allowing members who did not participate to join the safari without any disruption.
