8 Days Shira Route

Arrival and Relaxation

• Arrive at your hotel in Tanzania.
• Enjoy dinner and overnight stay, allowing time to rest and prepare.

Londorossi Gate to Forest Camp

• Altitude: 9,000 ft / 2,800 m
• Highlights: Transfer to Kilimanjaro National Park’s Londorossi Gate for registration.
• Trek begins through a lush forest to reach your first campsite. Overnight stay at Forest Camp.

Forest Camp to Shira Camp

• Altitude: 12,500 ft / 3,800 m
• Highlights: Trek through dense forest, moving upward into the open, grassy moorlands of the Shira Plateau.
• Reach Shira Camp, with expansive views of the plateau and surrounding peaks.

Shira Camp to Barranco Hut

• Altitude: 13,000 ft / 3,900 m
• Highlights: Head eastward, ascending into drier landscapes before dropping back down to Barranco Hut.
• Overnight :stay at Barranco, offering striking views and a prime acclimatization point.

Barranco Valley to Barafu Hut

• Altitude: 15,500 ft / 4,600 m
• Highlights: Ascend the challenging Barranco Wall, then cross the Karanga Valley and head north to Barafu Hut.
• Prepare for the final ascent with an overnight stay.

Summit Day – Barafu to Uhuru Peak and Descend to Mweka Camp

• Altitude: 19,340 ft / 5,896 m (summit)
• Highlights: Early start to reach Stella Point for sunrise, then continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.
• After celebrating at the summit, descend to Mweka Hut for overnight rest.

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate and Hotel Transfer

• Highlights: Complete your descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate.
• Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay, celebrating the trek’s completion.

Departure

• Breakfast at the hotel and prepare for your journey home or onward travels.
